The Role

Based at our offices in Chester, for our SoSmart Money brand, it is an exciting opportunity to join a training plan to develop your skills, knowledge and experience to become a qualified mortgage adviser.

Initially the successful candidate will learn how to convert leads into sales prospects and will become an integral part of the lead generation team. This involves telephoning people who have expressed an interest in purchasing a particular financial services product and converting the enquiry into a sales prospect to be passed to the appropriate broker team.

The next step in the career path will be to work within the mortgage broker team, initially providing administrative support whilst at the same time building up knowledge of the mortgage market and products. You will liaise with clients and lenders to progress the mortgage application.

The final stage in the career path is the move to a Trainee Mortgage Broker position, developing the skills, knowledge and qualifications to qualify you to offer mortgage and protection advice to consumers over the telephone.

Training Provided

Will provide in depth, on the job training across all office areas.

You will also get a good understanding of the role by working closely alongside the financial advisers and administration team within our firm.

The academic training will be provided by an accredited college, the college will provide training via workbooks, web seminars; pod cast and one to one training in our business premises.  All apprentices who successfully complete the scheme will receive their CeMAP qualification.

Applicants for this role need to be

  • Willingness to learn and apply that learning in the workplace;
  • Willingness to adapt to different work roles;
  • Capacity to cope in busy and demanding conditions;
  • Strong command of the English language, articulate, with clear clarity of speech, and excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Clear written communication skills. Develop the ability to explain financial terminology in plain English
  • Strong organisation, time management skills and an ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Attention to detail
  • Interpersonal and listening skills
  • Strong IT skills, including Word, Excel, Email, and Internet. Confidence using IT and database packages.
  • Well presented and polite
  • A strong desire to succeed in business
