Applying for a mortgage, loan or credit card that’s right for your credit score is essential to improve your chances of being accepted

Get my credit report

Applying for a mortgage that you’re likely to be accepted for is vital. Getting declined for a mortgage leaves a footprint on your credit score and the more of these you have, the less desirable you are to potential lenders; after all if 2 or 3 other lenders have declined your application, this may make you look more of a risk.

Armed with your credit score, our advisers can assess which products are going to be the most suitable for you. Meaning you’re more likely to be accepted and at the best rates available to you and your circumstances.

How long does my credit score last?

With UK Credit Ratings you credit score is updated daily and the information stored will be available to mortgage providers reviewing your history and considering lending to you. This means it’s vital to keep up with current mortgage repayments, credit and store cards, loans and any other credit arrangements you have entered in to.

How can I improve my credit score?

In order to have a good credit score you should keep up your regular/minimum monthly payments on all your credit agreements.  For example a missed or late payment on a credit card will be visible to other lenders and may not be seen in a favourable light. This doesn’t mean that the odd late payment on a credit card 12 months ago will scupper your chances of getting a mortgage, but it might mean that some products will be more difficult to get accepted for. To understand what you’re likely to be accepted for, before applying and having multiple applications on your report; speak to a specialist mortgage adviser who will be able to advise you of the mortgage rates and lenders that are most suitable to you.

Will I be accepted for a mortgage?
